The Realtek Wireless Driver for Windows 8.1 is a simple piece of middleware that allows your computer to interface with a networking adapter that's attached to your system. Countless WiFi systems and Bluetooth dongles carry the brand of the Realtek Semiconductor company, and these are designed to work with a certain type of driver software that doesn't normally come with PCs.

On the other hand, many PCs do come with some form of Realtek adapter built in to provide network connectivity. This creates an unusual scenario where people aren't always able to connect to the Internet immediate after a fresh install of their operating system.

By downloading this driver, you'll be able to access the Internet like normal and browse the web. It includes a small custom configuration screen, which you may never have to use again once you have your wireless credentials written into its built-in text box. You'll have to either download the driver using an Ethernet cable or another computer and then transfer it to the machine you're working with.

Fortunately, this process shouldn't prove difficult at all. In fact, the driver should install and proceed to automatically configure itself in a matter of minutes.

Since the installer automatically detects all of the networking hardware attached to your system, it shouldn't require you to do much of anything before you're able to get online. That's good news for those who might have recently lost connectivity due to some kind of update and need to get it restored as quickly as they possibly can. Depending on your current setup, you might even already have these drivers installed.
